1978 is a Devil Ray

August 28th, 1978. 82-47

August 28th 2007. 80-51

It looks like the Red Sox were in a little better shape in 1978. At least their record was better. Not sure where exactly the Yankees were at this point back then, but rest assured, there’s a bad moon rising. Bucky Dent is lighting the incense, my friends. It’s voodoo time. Zombie-Killers are on the prowl, the pressure builds, Babe’s beery breath sweeps through the Bronx and the Red Sox fold. Too much pressure, too soft a team, and fans that don’t remember 1978, when there was no such thing as a pink hat. Tonight is the first goodbye, it won’t be as sweet as the last but its a start.
