The Golden Boy is a Devil Ray

What a day! We have two fine examples of the Sport of Kings and the King of Sports, the Derby and Oscar and Floyd. Most observers are quick to point out that boxing is fast fading, and that just might be true. But fights like this are hard to resist and still muster the energy and hype of any 5 Super Bowls combined. This is an event not to be missed. Oscar, the game’s lone aristocrat versus Floyd, it’s dysfunctional thug. On paper, this is Floyd’s night. And, on paper, that’s hard to argue against. But Oscar can knock Floyd down and if Floyd comes to fight (and not dance, stick, and move) danger lurks. We’re not fans of either of these guys, but the prospect of an epic battle and seeing Floyd go down is exciting enough.

De La Hoya knocks him out in the 9th.

Floyd ran all night, so I was wrong. Nailed the Derby, though.

And, the Devil Rays beat Oakland, and the Red Sox lost to the Twins.

All in all, a pretty good day.
